Reflections of an Abbot

Tuesday, June 29, 2004

This world is so much like the night sky. Millions of people occupy such a vast emptiness, just as millions of stars occupy an abbysmal black up in the heavens. Just as we all have different personalities, stars also have different brightnesses.

Finding your true love is like finding the star that guides you home. It is like finding a star that stands out everytime you look up at the sky. You may not always see your star, but deep in your heart you know that it is just right up there, right where you last saw it. You know that your star is yours alone, and your heart rejoices everytime you see it. Your star is the most special star among the millions that twinkle in the sky. Your star gives you light, it gives you comfort on lonely nights, it shows you your way home.

You yourself is a star. Somehow, there's a someone who looks up at the heavens on clear nights and points to a particular star and whispers your name. Someone who has found his or her way home because of the brightness you have shone on them.

So, the next time you look up on clear, cloudless nights, don't just go on guessing constellations. Leave that to the experts. What you can do is look for a particular star which you know would be just like your one true love- one who would always be there for you and show you your way home. Me...? I have found my star.
